Super Bowl Sunday should be a national holiday, but here I am, back at it with Uber. I started the day early, knocked out three short rides to secure my 40-ride bonus, and now I’m seeing what the night has in store. Historically, Super Bowl Sundays aren’t crazy money-makers, but I was hoping for some decent rides bouncing between house parties. Instead? Uber keeps trying to send me into Brickell and Miami Beach (hard pass), and the surge? Barely existent in my area. Meanwhile, Uber’s algorithm continues to test my patience with ridiculously long pickups and lowball offers.

At halftime, I took a break to watch the game at my aunt’s place. Turns out, that was the highlight of the night because this Super Bowl was rough. The game was a snoozefest, the halftime show was an awkward mismatch, and even the commercials felt outdated. The biggest winners of the night? Probably Tubi and the Eagles. The biggest losers? Chiefs fans and anyone expecting a solid payout from Uber. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, I activated again, but the rides were still garbage—long pickups, no surge, and the usual mileage wear and tear for peanuts. After a final short ride, I called it. Maybe Monday morning will be better.
