On December 16, 2020, UNESCO announced the decision to recognize Street Vendor Culture in Southeast Asian countries as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
When we talk about street vendors, we talk about people who sell algae and are doomed. They do not sit in a fixed place but roam around caves and alleys. The characteristic of street vendors is that poor workers with curved poles, regardless of sunny or rainy days, carry many essential things on their shoulders to serve their daily needs.
On small streets and alleys, it is not difficult to see busy street vendors, weaving back and forth with heavy bags full of seasonal snacks, wandering from one street to another.
Street vendors can sell a lot of different snacks such as fruit cakes, vermicelli, pho... or seasonal specialties, such as apples, plums, lychees, longans, green rice, lotus... Even though they are just simple, simple dishes, they carry, containing the unique culinary flavors of each region.
