THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW Part 90: The Road to Emmaus

Cleopas and another man set out for Emmaus on the morning of the resurrection. They were dejected and did not recognize the God-man when He joined them on the road because neither man expected Jesus to rise from the dead.

Scolding their unbelief, Son of God expounded upon the Mosaic law and the prophets concerning the incarnation, birth, teachings, miracles, sufferings, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of the Messiah.

It was quite the conversation! It was evening when they invited Jesus to eat with them and suddenly realized who He was, only for Him to supernaturally vanish!

Cleopas and the other man immediately returned to Jerusalem to share the good news with the apostles. Then Jesus supernaturally appeared in the upper room and everyone was terrified that He was a ghost. Knowing their thoughts, the God-man showed the nail marks on his hands and feet and ate some food in front of them, patiently leading them to belief.
