SHOCK Saudi Shift Leaves Netanyahu Reeling!

Right, so Benjamin Netanyahu really knows how to make friends and influence people doesn’t he? Now in the uncomfortable position of trying to make Donald Trump’s crackpot Gaza relocation plan work, his hard right coalition partners loving the idea and with Egypt saying no and Jordan threatening war if Israel try sending the people of Gaza there, he’s now thrown Saudi Arabia into the mix, suggesting they’ve got plenty of room to create a Palestinian state within their nation and that that should be the way to go.
While the Saudi Royal Family certainly do not give a stuff particularly about the Palestinian people, they have said as much, they have also said that they fully acknowledge that their people do, one significant reason perhaps that normalisation between Saudi Arabia and Israel is contingent, the Saudis say, upon the creation of a Palestinian State, Saudi Arabia do not formally recognise the existence of the state of Israel is what all of this means in effect and they refuse to until a Palestinian State is globally recognised and ratified. Netanyahu has simply now said, well you should create it then, but the land is already there, it is called Gaza it is called the West Bank, this is Palestine and it should be within Israel’s gift to dictate where the Palestinian people can call home, because they are home, you’ve wrecked it and you need to pay for it and making yet another enemy in the Saudis is not going to benefit you.
Right, so Israel has designs on a bit of Saudi land. They don’t care where in Saudi Arabia it is, they don’t care how much land it is, just that it should be there, because they have room.
The removal of the Palestinian people from Gaza is of course the brain fart of old tiny hands himself, the jaffa cake complexioned President of the US Donald Trump, completely illegal, ethnic cleansing as it is, but the hard right of Netanyahu’s government love it, especially his finance minister Bezalel Smotrich of the Religious Zionism Party, who has already had something to say about all of this:
‘Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated yesterday that Israel has been discreetly discussing plans for the displacement of Gaza’s population for several months, but avoided publicly addressing the matter due to concerns about opposition from the Biden administration.
In an interview on Ynet’s political podcast 120 and One, Smotrich revealed that discussions on Palestinian emigration had been happening behind the scenes before US President Donald Trump openly supported the idea.
He also reiterated that Israel intends to resume its genocidal war following the initial phase of the captives deal and dismissed any recognition of Palestinian sovereignty as part of a potential normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia.
"Before the war, every poll in Gaza indicated that a vast majority of people wanted to emigrate but were prevented from doing so," Smotrich said. "Trump recognizes that the only way for Gazans to achieve better lives is outside of Gaza."’
I have no doubt that Smotrich and Ben Gvir and other politicians representing the settler movement have been concocting fanciful ideas for the removal of the Palestinians from their own lands and I have said from the start of the ceasefire, that it will never make it to phase 2, due to start at the beginning of March, because Smotrich and his awful party will collapse the government if Netanyahu doesn’t resume fighting. He also won’t have a bar of the normalisation with Saudi Arabia, a good chunk of it being eyed up under the Greater Israel plan anyway and should Israel and Jordan come to blows, Israel could end up on the Saudi’s doorstep anyway, so I’m sure they will be keeping an eye on that situation.
In light of Netanyahu’s suggestion that the Saudi’s take the people of Gaza though, that did elicit a statement via their foreign ministry which does not hold back and speaks volumes for the poor relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel at this time:
‘The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia appreciates the condemnation, disapproval and total rejection announced by the brotherly countries towards what Benjamin Netanyahu stated regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and the Kingdom values the positions that emphasise the centrality of the Palestinian issue to the Arab and Muslim countries.
In this context, the Kingdom stresses its categorical rejection to such statements that aim to divert attention from the continuous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian brothers in Gaza, including the ethnic cleansing they are subjected to.
The Kingdom also points out that this extremist, occupying mentality does not understand what the Palestinian land means to the brotherly people of Palestine and their emotional, historical and legal connection to this land, and it does not think that the Palestinian people deserve to live in the first place, as it has destroyed the Gaza Strip, killed and injured more than 160,000, most of them children and women, without the slightest human feeling and responsibility.
The Kingdom affirms that the Palestinian people have a right to their land, and they are not intruders or immigrants to it who can be expelled whenever the brutal Israeli occupation wishes.
The Kingdom notes that the proponents of these extremist ideas are the ones who prevented Israel from accepting peace by refusing peaceful coexistence, rejecting the peace initiatives adopted by the Arab countries, and systematically practicing injustice towards the Palestinian people for more than 75 years, with disregard to the truth, justice, law and the values established in the United Nations Charter, including the human’s right to live in dignity on his land.
The Kingdom reiterates that the right of the Palestinian people will remain firmly established and no one will be able to take it away from them no matter how long it takes. The Kingdom also asserts that lasting peace will not be achieved except by returning to the logic of reason and accepting the principle of peaceful coexistence through the two state solution.’
They talk a good talk there, though I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t find it a bit hypocritical of the Saudis talking human rights, but even so with their track record, it’s a million miles from the genocide we’ve seen meted out in Gaza that will no doubt resume.
It isn’t just Israel that the Saudis have taken a swipe at over this story though, as they’ve also come out against Donald Trump for putting the idea into Netanyahu’s head and that of the likes of Smotrich and they’ve done so in the most deliciously mocking way. Considering the Saudis are amongst the US’s closest allies in the Gulf area, it really does say something that they are prepared to launch a scathing attack on Trump as barbed as this one is, an excerpt from Middle East Eye spelling it out:
‘A member of the powerful Saudi Shura Council, Yousef bin Trad Al-Saadoun, ridiculed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion of establishing a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia, instead proposing that US President Donald Trump should instead locate Israelis to Alaska and later to Greenland “after annexing it.”
Writing in the Saudi newspaper Okaz on Friday, Al-Saadoun criticised Trump’s approach to Middle East policy, arguing that reckless decisions stem from ignoring expert advice and dismissing dialogue.
He warned that "Zionists and their allies" would fail to manipulate Saudi leadership through media pressure and political manoeuvres.
Taking a swipe at the Trump administration, Al-Saadoun said "the official foreign policy of the United States will seek the illegal occupation of sovereign land and the ethnic cleansing of its inhabitants, which are the Israeli approach and are considered crimes against humanity. Anyone who follows the path of the emergence and continuation of Israel clearly realizes that this plan was certainly formulated and approved by the Zionist entity, and was handed over to their ally to read from the White House podium."
"The Zionists and their supporters must realize well that they will not be able to lure the Saudi leadership and government into the traps of media manoeuvres and false political pressures." he wrote.’
How about you relocate them when you annex Greenland he said. Israel is really running the US was also a point made there, the words written by the Zionist entity for their ally to read from the White House podium, it is the sort of statement you’d expect from Iran, not the Saudis so this has the potential to significantly affect US-Saudi relations yet, especially if Trump doesn’t back down and U turn on his suggestion to relocate everyone in Gaza. He’s probably still dreaming of that golf course and those casinos though.
You have to appreciate as I said earlier that the Saudi Royals don’t much care for it. Despite the foreign ministry statement some officials on both sides are still talking up the fact that Crown Prince Mohammed bin-Salman is more flexible than it implies, and merely seeks a pathway to a possible Palestinian state, however that view predated he Gaza genocide and it now tops the political agenda in Saudi Arabia these days. More assurances are being sought and that previous flexibility may not be there any longer.
That viewpoint is likely to tighten up all the more if Jordan come to blows with Israel, an Israeli victory, which would seem likely, would then put the genocidal apartheid state on Saudi Arabia’s northern border of course.
