What’s going on, Hard Rockers, Headbangers, and the Hardcore? I’m SGT Rock, your host of the best damn heavy metal show on Rumble. I’m a farm boy made good, a massive metalhead, and a proud founding OG member of GenX. If you were a metalhead back in the ‘80s, you may or may not have been one who wore their flags on their jean and leather jackets or their jean and leather vests. What do you mean by “colors,” SGT Rock? “Flags” are—or were—our way of showing our favorite bands: bands that were on repeat, bands that had their cassette tapes worn out in our sound systems, bands that topped our playlists on our record players, bands we saw no matter the cost when they came through town.

“Well, what about gun racks, SGT Rock? What’s that about?” Y’all gotta remember: I’m a metalhead born and raised on a farm. See, back in the GenX days, before y’all became a pussified nation… if you owned a truck, on that truck’s rear window sat your gun rack. Mine had both a shotgun and a hunting rifle. Kids who had cars kept their guns in the trunk. “Why, SGT Rock?” Simple. We’re country folk. We’d go hunting after school. Shit, even during lunch, we’d go hunting. Same thing in the city. On a Friday, kids—yes, I said kids—jumped into their rigs and drove off to go hunting. That was how it was in Minnesota. It’s a hunter’s state. “If you can kill it, you can grill it!” Tree rat stew and pot pies? Fuckin’ outstanding. You call them squirrels; we call them tree rats.

And what was blaring through the speakers? Our metal music, our rock music—shit, even some Christopher Cross or Tears for Fears (they’re heavy as fuck, shut up!). And what did we wear until we changed into our hunting attire? Our jean and leather jackets and vests; hence the title, Jean Jackets, Patches, and Gun Racks: Volume 2. This is the second installment of our great memories of being a metalhead of GenX. We know that kids have carried on the mantle, and there are those out there who know how to rock and how to rock the hunt. That’s why we’ve added music from the last 25 years to this show. For them. The kids who don’t conform, the kids who do their own thing, the ones who fly their flags proudly on their billboards of rock.
