Espinho, a small coastal town in Aveiro District, near Porto, known for its golden sands and fresh seafood, is also home to one of the largest and oldest open-air markets in the country—the Feira de Espinho. Established in 1894, it has grown into a weekly tradition, taking place every Monday from 7AM till 7PM.

Vendors from all over Portugal gather here to offer their goods—rain or shine. They make no exception for the national holidays like Freedom Day (Dia da Liberdade) on April 25th and Assumption of Mary (Assunção de Nossa Senhora) on August 15th.

You'll find here a variety of clothing: casual, fancy, active wear and everything in between.
Look at these shoes. All styles, colours and sizes. Pick the one you like.

Eye-candy for the ladies - handbags for every taste, of all sizes, many made in Portugal.

Home textiles, including towels, linens, and fabric by the meter, are available in an array of patterns and materials.

Craft enthusiasts will find yarn, decorative trims, and other supplies for knitting, crocheting, and sewing.

Household goods such as kitchen tools, cookware, and home essentials are sold at affordable prices.

A handyman will not leave the market empty-handed either.

If you are looking for a gift to take home, check the traditional Portuguese crafts, aprons, embroidered towels, handmade baskets and totes.

Farmers sell local grown fruits and vegetables that change with the seasons.

Espinho, being a coastal town, is especially known for its high-quality fresh fish and seafood, making the market a prime destination for fresh local specialties.

Vendors offer a variety of smoked meats, including traditional sausages and cured hams, known for their rich flavors, often with samples to taste before buying.

Portuguese bread, freshly baked and often wood-fired, is available in different regional styles. Not to forget the pastries.

Do you need a rooster? Small livestock, including chickens, ducks, and rabbits, are also part of the market’s offerings.

Looking for gardening tools, plants or even fruit trees? Every gardener will be pleased with the selection.

Bargain hunters can explore stalls with discounted products, but patience is key to finding a treasure. Some vendors sell clothing, shoes, and accessories by the piece at reduced prices, offering last season’s items at a fraction of the original cost.

Located between 29th and 43rd streets, the Feira de Espinho is easy to reach. If you arrive by train, simply walk in the direction opposite to the beach, and you won’t miss it. For those arriving by car, look for the parking location in the description above.
