This outstanding musician has an incredible skill as she covers System Of A Down's 'Chop Suey' on a Baroque Grand by Bösendorfer. This woman is clearly incredibly talented, and has more than likely been playing the piano since a very young age. She is obviously very technically well-trained, and she takes her talent and music very seriously.

At the beginning, she takes a sip of what looks to be tea of some sort, and gently places the cup back onto the saucer. Her movements here are supposed to be viewed as very controlled and demure. This is quite a juxtaposition to what is about to take place on the video. Perhaps this was planned to be seen in this way. More than likely, it was. This sets up the audience for a more shocking reaction when the musician actually begins to play her masterpiece.

She slowly prepares herself for the performance she is about to give. She places her hands on the keys, and she moves her feet to the paddles. All it takes is a few seconds of listening to the moving melody and watching her play, and you will be entranced without a doubt. This musician is so into her performance, and her body language draws in her audience as well. Her facial expression is taught and almost emotionally tortured as she releases the tune from the ivory keys. She looks like she is playing on the piano with her whole body and not only with her hands. Watching her hands move, though, is an experience all in its own. The amazing dexterity she possesses and the agility shown as she moves from key to key, up and down the piano with absolutely no stumbles or hesitation is enthralling.

The song she has chosen for her performance masterpiece is from a very popular band called “System of a Down.” The song, entitled “Chop Suey,” is one of their most well-known pieces of music. The original name of the song was actually “Suicide.” However, the band was forced to change the title, which many people do not know. The original title was not viewed as one that was all that appropriate for regular radio broadcasting. Censorship is sometimes the bane of an artist’s existence, but this band obviously made it work. Many do not know the significance of the name of this song. “Chop Suey” is actually the name of a Chinese dish, and while there are of course variations, the common premise is that it has a large mixture of ingredients all thrown together. The band chose this title most likely to imply that their song has many different pieces put together as well; while all these pieces may not seem at first to fit together, they end up creating something meaningful and special-just as the dish itself.

While we cannot be certain that the musician in the video is a die-hard fan of the band, most devout artists such as this woman tend to know all of the “ins and outs” to the pieces they choose to play.
