From Album 06 - Song no.9

(cc) Lyrics:
In Solomon's days, the wise king roamed,
Disguised among his people, he wandered alone.
Counting the souls, one by one he sought,
A man among thousands, but a woman found not.

Until in a vineyard, where the sun kissed the vines,
He beheld her doves' eyes, love at first sight.
"Thou art the fairest," the king softly spoke,
But she lowered her gaze, with a heart that was broke.

"Look not upon me, for I am black," she sighed,
"The sun has scorched me, in my shame, I hide.
My mother's children in anger, my hands they did bind,
To the vineyard I tend, yet my own heart I can't find."

With gentle words, he lifted her high,
"My love, in you, no blemish resides."
She asked, "If you’re a shepherd, where’s your flock?
Why leave them behind, to stand at my door and knock?"

The king knew her love could not be sold,
Not by his power, not by his gold.
To win her heart, he must become like her,
In humility and meekness, her love I must stir.

He rose from his throne, set his crown aside,
Dressed as a shepherd, he took the long stride.
To her town, he came, as one of her own,
To open her heart, to make her love known.

A year passed by in that vineyard fair,
Their love blossomed, a pair beyond compare.
But he had to leave, his duties called,
She searched for him but found only walls.

The townsfolk mocked, "Where is he now?"
But she held her head high, with a solemn vow.
"My beloved is fair, ruddy and bright,
Chief among thousands, he’s my pure light.

He is altogether lovely, my heart’s desire,
My beloved, my friend, the one I admire."

One day, the king returned in his royal attire,
To the vineyard he owned, with a love that won't tire.
"Behold, the king has come!" the people cried,
He reached for his love, standing by his side.

Her humble eyes lifted, and behold the king,
he was that humble shepherd she loved within.
"My dearly beloved, it is for you that I’ve come,
Come drink with me, my bride, no more shall you roam.

The day of our wedding is finally here,
My sister, my spouse, my love forever dear."
To a garden of love, he took her away,
Their story is eternal, his love forever stays.
