Flat Light Ski Flying - Alaska Bush Flying

Another day of ski fly. This day was overcast which creates what is called flat light. It makes it very difficult to tell where the ground is when looking at the snow. To get around this one thin I do is land close to the trees that line the lakes. This gives me a reference to where the ground is.

This type of flying has dangers. Don't try this without first receiving instruction from a competent off airport pilot.
