California Governor Gavin Newsom met with President Donald Trump to talk about wildfire aid from the federal government in a meeting that lasted well into the nighttime hours.
Neither Newsom or President Trump talked to reporters after the meeting however, their discussion comes as California passed two bills aimed at ‘Trump-proofing’ the state, dedicating $50 Million to fight President Trump’s Mass Deportation plans and to protect illegal migrants in the Golden State.
The bills were passed after Newsom called a special session. $25 million will be used for lawsuits against President Trump over the states policies on the environment, abortion access, and LGBTQ protections.
The other $25 million would go towards legal groups to defend immigrants facing possible deportation.
