Alien Autopsy (1995 film)
Fact or Fiction?**: This 1995 television special, hosted by Jonathan Frakes, aired on Fox and investigated the authenticity of the alien autopsy footage that was allegedly filmed by the United States military after the legendary UFO crash near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. The footage was an overnight sensation, with Time magazine noting that it sparked a debate "with an intensity not lavished on any home movie since the Zapruder film". Fox re-broadcast the program twice, each time to higher ratings. However, the footage was later debunked, and in 2006, Ray Santilli, who had released the footage, confessed that the video wasn't from 1947 and that the 'alien' in the video was just a dummy. Despite this, Santilli still refused to call the film a hoax, claiming it was instead a recreation of a real alien autopsy.
On April 4, 2006, days before the release of the British feature film, Alien Autopsy, Sky broadcast a documentary, Eamonn Investigates: Alien Autopsy, presented by Eamonn Holmes. In this program, Ray Santilli and fellow producer Gary Shoefield admitted that they had created the 1995 footage. More on Wikipedia
