The Battle of Manila was fought between February 3 and March 3, 1945. To observe this anniversary, Tio Banana is composing ideas each day, in preparation for a piece of music to commemorate the Battle and those who served in the combat, endured the destruction, and lost their lives. February 3, 1945: "MacArthur's forces had liberated the American internees at Santo Tomas, but the rest of the sprawling city—filled with more than one million Filipino men, women, and children—remained under Japanese control, and no one knew what the trapped enemy might do." (p. 162) "Admiral Iwabuchi knew the time to fight had arrived." (p. 179). Excerpts from Rampage: MacArthur, Yamashita, and the Battle of Manila by James M. Scott (W. W. Norton & Company, 2018). "They will beat their swords into plowshare and their spears into pruning hooks. One nation will not lift up a sword against another, nor will they ever again be trained for war." The Book of the Prophet Isaiah, Chapter 2, Verse 4. Audio generated by Finale Notebook. Original Composition by Tio Banana.
