Yoga is such a fantastic way to get not just fit and comfortable, but also to get flexible with our bodies even if weβre just starting out. Letβs dive into some gentle stretches that will help you feel more relaxed and centered.
First, find a comfortable seated position. Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs, and exhale slowly, releasing any tension. Now, letβs move into a gentle neck stretch. Drop your right ear to your right shoulder, feeling the stretch along the left side of your neck. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
Next, letβs open up our shoulders. Inhale as you lift your arms overhead, and exhale as you bring your arms down, rolling your shoulders back. Repeat this a few times, allowing your body to release any tightness.
Now, letβs transition to a seated forward fold. Inhale, reaching your arms up, and as you exhale, hinge at your hips and fold forward, letting your hands rest on your legs or the floor. Breathe deeply here, feeling the stretch in your back and hamstrings.
Finally, letβs finish with a gentle seated twist. Place your right hand on your left knee and your left hand behind you. Inhale to lengthen your spine, and exhale as you twist gently to the left. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
These simple stretches can help you feel more grounded and relaxed. Remember, yoga is about listening to your body and finding what feels good for you. Enjoy this journey of self-discovery and peace.
