Week 2 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge include Job 21—42 and Genesis 12—20.

This week sees us finishing off the Book of Job. In this tutorial, Chad encourages us to appreciate both the nature of the Book, and it's structure. Much like Jesus' parables, the dramatisation of this story is intended to draw the listener in to the story, to reveal a great life-lesson at the end! Whether Job proves to be a genuine historical figure, or his entire story a work of fiction, there are key lessons to be learned from Job and his interactions with his so-called "friends"!

We also continue into the Book of Genesis, as we are introduced to the life and times of Abram and Sarai, the 'Mother and Father' of God's newfound Covenant Family. In these chapters pay attention to the covenant God cuts with Abram and the developing motif of 'a remnant saved from destruction' in the story of his nephew Lot, and his escape from Sodom.

Chad's suggestion on how to approach this week's readings? Walk through Job 21–31, then 32–42 in two sittings; and Genesis 12–20 in a single sitting. Keep reading, catch the flow of the story... then turn back later for more if something gets your curiosity going!
