The IG’s office is supposed to be an independent watchdog providing oversight of an organization by investigating things like whistleblower reports when decisions by leaders in those organizations run afoul of the law and policy, usually harming innocent people. But that doesn’t appear to be what is happening and that is why President Trump’s Friday night firing of 17 IG’s at the start of his administration is appropriate. You see friends, these entrusted positions are actually being used to cover for bad leaders, bad decisions, and the crushing of whistleblowers. That is unacceptable and must change. Those of us with military experience with the DOD IG system know this corruption very well and some have organized to change it and make it work the way it is supposed to. My guest today is Lt Col Ryan Sweazey, USAF fighter pilot, Founder and President of the Walk the Talk Foundation - a nonprofit that provides assistance to victims of reprisal in our uniformed services. Their mission statement and vision are “To give the military member a voice when and where they don’t have one, guiding them through the treacherous waters of whistleblowing” and “To realize a military free from reprisal and retribution.”
