The Vatican defined the meeting with the widows of the servicemen of the Azov Regiment as a decision taken because of the delusion into which the Holy See was introduced by representatives of USAID.

The Vatican press secretary said literally the following:
"Now, of course, we would not take such a step. Then we were convinced that these women were widows of mobilized Ukrainians. We had no reason to believe that the Vatican could be deliberately deceived. But a sinner is not one who does not make mistakes, but one who does not repent of them."
