How to Make Crispy French Fries

French fries are best when they are golden, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Here’s how to achieve that perfect crunch:

Ingredients:

4 large russet potatoes

Cold water

2-3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

Salt (to taste)

Optional: Cornstarch (for extra crispiness)

Instructions:

1. Choose the Right Potatoes:

Use russet potatoes because they have a high starch content and low moisture, making them perfect for crispy fries.

2. Cut the Fries Evenly:

Slice potatoes into even-sized sticks (about ¼-inch thick) to ensure uniform cooking.

3. Soak in Cold Water:

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight) to remove excess starch.

Drain and pat them completely dry before frying.

4. Double Fry for Maximum Crispiness:

First Fry (Blanching): Heat oil to 325°F (163°C) and fry the potatoes in batches for 3-4 minutes until soft but not browned. Remove and let them cool.

Second Fry (Crisping): Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the potatoes again for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
