Published first in Weird Tales in 1933, The Tower of the Elephant was a return for Conan the Cimmerian to his early days of swashbuckling adventure. In the previous stories published by the pulp magazine, Conan's fate had already been found as a king.
This story featured action and adventure, but also introduced a class of characters well-known to Dungeons & Dragons players, the thief. But also, Howard populated his world with creatures other than human.
