Awaken Biblical Prophecy Commentary – The Meaning Behind Lukewarm

A position God has expressly made known to the church is how He despises it when His people are lukewarm in their faith. To the end-times church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus states:

“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”

Obviously, lukewarm is a condition that is temperate and not extreme to either end of the spectrum. It’s something that is moderate, even tolerant, if we can use that word. Gosh, that sounds so right, doesn’t it? Shouldn’t we be a people who have limits and don’t push to the end-point against certain boundaries? Don’t others get hurt when there’s too much of one position and not enough of another?
