In the case of tired furniture, you could either spruce up the piece with a little sanding and some paint or if it’s beyond repair, take the materials apart and use them in a different way.

Spindles and table legs are always a good score or you can repurpose the wood itself but pulling the boards apart or cutting it into strips. Many times you can harvest the hardware such as screws, drawer pulls or dowel pins.
