Info from Licensor: "My best friend Mary Finney and I were driving around at Holly Bluff which is a private farm owned by Skip Valentine and located just a few miles south of Mary’s farm. Holly Bluff is located in Capeville, Virginia which is 5 min south of Cape Charles Virginia and 5 minutes north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We were there to check suitably of ground conditions for an upcoming event that was scheduled to occur in a few days. While driving the vast farm of hundreds of acres, We discovered a young snow goose frozen into the ice of one of the shallow ponds. We agreed we couldn’t let it suffer. Mary had taller waterproof boots, so she sprang out of the truck, pulled up her long jacket and made the trek out there to rescue the young snow goose. She did end up with water in her boots, however she said saving a life was worth cold feet! We brought the nearly frozen-to-death snow goose back to her workshop (Mary and her husband Frank are artists and bird experts). We fed it, warmed with our body heat, and settled it snugly near the warm wood stove overnight. Sadly it did not survive. In morning a closer inspection further inspection revealed lead shot pellets. It had likely been wounded days prior. We were all upset, however grateful it felt loved, was warm with a full belly and felt safe enough to cross the rainbow bridge. We had named the young goose snowflake."
