The Old Mill’s story began nearly two centuries ago when local farmers with sacks of grain traveled to the newly built gristmill along the Little Pigeon River. Those trips to the mill resulted in meal and flour for cooking, and they also were opportunities to socialize and build community. In time, the town of Pigeon Forge was born.
Today, the Old Mill is one of the oldest continually operating gristmills in the country and one of the most photographed mills in America.
Free parking is available for Old Mill guests in front of the restaurants and shops. If you’re eating at the Pottery House Cafe, you’ll find additional parking from Butler Street, right off of Old Mill Ave. There is paid overflow parking available at Patriot Park, just a short walk down the sidewalk.
They have Patriot Park, the main hub for the Pigeon Forge Trolley system right down the sidewalk. With stops all over town, you don’t even have to worry about driving or parking! You can find their fare and route schedules.
The Old Mill General Store offers many wonderful ways to take Smoky Mountain goodness home with you. Here you’ll find The Old Mill’s freshly ground yellow and white cornmeal and grits, flours, pancake mixes, and other specialty blends — bagged and hand-tied with a miller’s knot right next door.
The Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen features their signature soup mixes, bread mixes, salad dressings, sauces, and other ingredients to help you recreate favorites from The Old Mill Restaurant and the Pottery House Cafe in your own kitchens.
And they can also help you set a beautiful table with unique dishware and decorative items from their exclusive Farmhouse Pottery line. You’ll also find cookware, cookbooks, linens, our fresh-made jams, sweet treats, and much more!
Appalachia has long been a haven for homemade candies. The Old Mill Candy Kitchen proudly carries on this regional tradition with homemade fudge, small-batch nut brittles, creamy divinity, chewy caramels, taffy, hand-dipped chocolates, and hard candies to satisfy every sweet tooth.
At Sassafras, they believe that fashion should be fun and accessible for everyone. That’s why they offer a wide range of sizes (including plus) and styles to suit every taste. They also believe that living the Sassafras lifestyle is about more than just looking good — it’s about feeling good, too.
The Pottery House Cafe serves freshly made sandwiches, salads, and hearty entrees on dishes created by the potters right next door. Cozy up in the wintertime near the crackling embers of their dining room’s original stone fireplace.
The Old Mill Creamery makes ice cream the old-fashioned way, to scoop into bowls or sugar cones, whirl into thick shakes, or sculpt into eye-popping sundaes. Their signature flavors include treats from The Old Mill Candy Kitchen, the bakery, spirits from the Old Forge Distillery, and fresh fruits and nuts that change with the seasons. Sweet!
Serving hearty Southern classics family-style in a beautiful historic setting, The Old Mill Restaurant’s delicious comfort food and friendly, welcoming atmosphere is loved by locals and visitors alike.
Join them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at tables that overlook the Little Pigeon River as it flows through the water wheel of our 200-year-old mill. You won’t leave hungry!
Also check out their homemade jams, jellies, dip mixes, and other popular products from the Old Mill Signature line of foods, as well as a distinctive selection of regionally inspired gifts, crafts, and memorabilia to remind you of your visit to a true national treasure.
