02.02.25 "Beautiful Nature Healing Comes From Us"

here has been a light but steady rain falling in my home city of San Francisco for 2 days day now. I just heard there was rain in southern California too, finally putting out the fires for good. Here, this change in weather ended a several day long cold spell. From the room I am in I can hear the steady sound of water dripping from the trees outside the window. It's a very soothing, healing sound.

When we get rain like this I am frequently reminded of this passage from the Workbook. "Miracles fall like drops of healing rain from Heaven on a dry and dusty world, where starved and thirsty creatures came to die. Now they have water. Now the world is green. And everywhere the signs of life spring up to show that what is born can never die, for what has life has immortality." (OrEd.WkBk.WhIs341.5) After we get a rain like this, usually in the winter months, the hills in and around San Francisco, which are frequently brown with old dead grass and brush, will turn bright green with new growth. I always look forward to seeing those "signs of life," just like the above quotation talks about.

The cycles of life and renewal continue to give us powerful messages if we are open to them, and it is nice to see these mentioned in ACIM. Allow the world to give you healing messages and you will be using it for a Holy Spirit guided purpose. The Course gives us several beautiful messages about the healing effect nature can have when see with the right perspective. "And they [the worn and tired minds] will hear the bird begin to sing and see the stream begin to flow again, with hope reborn and energy restored to walk with lightened steps along the road that suddenly seems easy as they go." (OrEd.WkBk.109.8) The soothing rain, the song of birds, the flowing stream all are manifestation of the healing thoughts from the Holy Spirit which we have decides to embrace. That is why nature can be healing for us.

The healing energy from nature doesn't come from God directly, it comes from all of us who think with the Holy Spirit and manifest the soothing, healing nature that appears in front of our eyes and ears. "Each hour that you take your rest today, a tired mind is suddenly made glad, a bird with broken wings begins to sing, a stream long dry begins to flow again. The world is born again each time you rest" (OrEd.WkBk.109.7) Beautiful healing nature comes from us.
