Bree Kuhn, a 37-year-old mother of three and a U.S. Navy veteran who served for 17 years, was a Chief Petty Officer stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola at the time of her husband's death on September 8, 2021. The couple had been arguing that day, with her husband, Mr. Turner, telling her he planned to take their kids and move to Georgia. Law enforcement had responded multiple times to their home in Gulf Breeze due to ongoing disputes between the two.
At one point, Mr. Turner called 911 from the garage, claiming that Bree had locked him out and wouldn't let him back inside. A deputy who listened to the call noted that Turner sounded calm, and there was no sign of an altercation. However, during the call, a gunshot was heard in the background. When the dispatcher asked about the sound, Turner reportedly said, "She just shot me." Three more gunshots followed, and then Turner went silent.
When deputies arrived, they found Turner with four gunshot wounds, and Bree admitted to shooting him. Her attorney claimed that Bree feared for her children's safety, believing her husband might take them with him and harm them. However, deputies noted that Turner didn't appear to pose a danger to Bree while locked in the garage at the time of the shooting.
Turner's parents, devastated by their son's death, spoke out about their loss, emphasizing how much he loved his children. They shared that he had retired early from the Marines so he could be present for his kids’ lives, but now, tragically, he is gone, all due to his wife’s actions.
