Colonization, a French story, in French with German subtitles
The conquest of Algeria, which began in 1830, marked the beginning of a century of unprecedented expansion for France, allowing the country to build a colonial empire covering part of Africa and Asia. An expansion carried out in the name of "progress" and under the guise of "civilizing missions". In reality, however, these territorial conquests were the result of particularly violent military campaigns. Because wherever France tried to raise its flag, it faced fierce resistance, from Algeria to Black Africa, then from Indochina to Morocco.
