How To BE A VICTOR, Not A Victim

We all encounter challenges daily. These challenges can range from simple to very difficult. We have a choice as to how we confront and react to those challenges. We can choose to immediately become the victim or we can choose to be the victor!

There are challenges such as illness, bad news, unexpected loss, a difficult relationship, poverty or persecution which seem impossible to confront as a victor, but as we read in Matthew 19:26,

"With God all things are possible."

And we read in Philippians 4:13,

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Look at how impossible and hopeless it seemed to the disciples when Jesus died on the cross and was laid in the tomb. Yet God raised Jesus from the dead. Because of this, we are victorious. Because of this, everything in this life is temporary... every season, every heartache, every loss, every need... it is all temporary because God has established us for eternity with Him at which time, we are told in Revelation 21:4,

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

The "old order of things" will be done away with.

We continue in the next verse,

[5] He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

With this knowledge, we can choose to confront all challenges as a victor because we know the ending to the story.

As we read in Ecclesiastes, there is a time to weep and mourn. Jesus even wept. But we do so with the reassurance and peace we have in Christ. We do so as victors with faith in Christ, our Shepherd who carries us through every challenge.

He tells us in Isaiah 41:10,

"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

With Christ, we are not alone. With Christ, we have strength. With Christ, we are victorious.

With Christ we can choose to flip every difficulty, challenge or negativity on its head by counteracting it with these truths we have in Christ. When we do so, we take away it's power. We are no longer the victim. Instead we are the victor just as God wants us to be.
