Governor Greg Abbott announcing that he signed an agreement between Texas and Customs and Border Protection, granting the Texas National Guard the power of immigration officials to arrest illegal migrants.

Effective immediately.

This boosts manpower for border security he says, as soldiers will now be able to have a direct impact when helping with President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan.

The memorandum, between CBP and the Lone Star State, gives soldiers the authority that border agents have as long as they are with immigration officers or agents. The ratio listed is one officer per four soldiers.

Arrest authority was granted to multiple federal law enforcement agencies just days after President Trump’s inauguration.

The latest move adds at least 3,000 Texas soldiers to the number of  ATF, FBI, and United States Deputy Marshals who are now helping DHS with mass deportations.
