Trosendorf

Upon receiving reports that our aircraft and drones had been fired on by an anti-aircraft unit in the village of Trosendorf in Cham, commander Chernarus 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade ordered 2nd Battalion to assemble a task force and begin an attack operation.

The original tactical plan for the attack on Trosendorf was for Tank 1 and Command Squad to attack from the southwest direction, as Tank 2 and 2nd Squad and 3rd Squad attacked from the southeast. The two scout cars were ordered to probe to the east side of the village to cover the approaches from that direction.

As Command Squad closed in on the village, it suffered heavy counterattacks by local levies, and by Serbian regulars, as well as by Chechen and Russian militias. Tank 1 had destroyed one of the two technicals occupying the town allowing Command Squad to press in to the location where the two civilian criminal command operatives were holed up.

2nd Squad and 3rd Squad became bogged down in enemy counterattacks on the west side of the village, as Command Squad pressed to the Northeast, reaching and eliminating the two civilian criminal command operatives.

At this point, Tank 1 became damaged, the commander ordered a repair truck forward to restore mobility to the tank. Once done, Command Squad pushed to the Northeast, ultimately reaching where three anti-aircraft trucks were deployed.

Enemy counterattacks coming from the north, northeast and northwest hit Command Squad and 3rd Squad very hard. Command Squad and 3rd Squad BTRs were both destroyed, Command Squad was wiped out along with commander.

Despite indications that the village had been secured, the new acting commander ordered the task force into a general retreat south, with the task force under fire from counterattacking enemy infantry and vehicles.

Losses were catastrophic. Command Squad was wiped out. 3rd Squad with wiped out. 2nd Squad lost five. Both BRDM Scout cars were destroyed. Tank 1 was abandoned due to damage.

Field counts of enemy losses included four BTR-80A APCs, three anti-aircraft trucks, two T-34s, two BMPs, and two UAVs.

In this initial encounter, commander was hampered by the lack of reinforcements, and by poor weapons loadouts of the friendly armored vehicles, which could have turned the battle into Chernarus Defense Forces' favor. As it was, the commander's decision to abandon the operation led to the town being taken over by counterattacking enemy forces.

Ast

Intelligence staff for 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade noted the next day that the enemy had withdrawn from the village of Trosendorf, likely due to their own perceived inability to hold the town against air attacks.

Two days Later, intelligence staff for 33rd Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade received reports of a new anti-aircraft emplacement in the village of Ast. Once again 2nd Battalion was ordered to assemble a task force and to march on the town.

The tactical plan for the attack on Ast was for the task force to advance along a single axis from the southwest with Command Squad and Tank 1 in the lead, and Scout 1 BRDM and Scout 2 BRDM advancing as a screening Force to the east. 2nd Squad and 3rd Squad both became bogged down and refused to advance. Command Squad and Tank 1, along with the two Scout cars, managed to push north and clear the town of enemy forces and enemy vehicles.

Tank 2 was ordered to overrun the aircraft truck position, which it did, only to be sacrificed in the attack. Command Squad advanced on the position of the anti-aircraft trucks, destroying all three with RPG-18 fire. During this time, enemy counterattacks were starting to develop from the north and the northeast. Commander ordered the two scout cars to the east of the village to place the enemy's counterattacking forces under fire. This stopped two major counterattacks from the northeast.

Commander, realizing his forces were overextended, decided to withdraw to the west to cover for an expected counterattack from the northwest. The expected counterattack began with two BTR-80As and several rifle squads including Spanish regulars and Serbian regulars. The ensuing firefights were very intense. Friendly reinforcements, which did arrive, helped drive the enemy back to the north.

Commander located both civilian criminal command operatives, and stripped them of critical documents and a cell phone. One of the documents was a list of towns and villages to be taken over by separatists which included Trosendorf from two days ago, and Ast.

Losses were moderate. One of the reinforcing T-34s was destroyed. Tank 2 was destroyed. Scout 1 BRDM was damaged but managed to evacuate back to the rally point at Kritzenast to the Southwest. Command Squad lost five while 2nd Squad lost one. Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1 was wiped out.

Field counts of enemy losses included four BTR-80As, three aircraft trucks, two UAVs, two T-34s, and one BMP.

Despite the catastrophic losses in the operation OP2501-31-2, the attack on Ast more than made up for that loss. As a result, friendly forces are expected to retain control of the Cham region.
