Market "Black Swan" Monday - Tariff War - Global Pandemic coming - Turkey Invasion - Stagflation!
Market Update: 02/02/2025
President Donald Trump said on Sunday the sweeping tariffs that he has imposed on Mexico, Canada and China may cause "some pain" for Americans, as Wall Street and the largest U.S. trading partners signaled hope that the trade war would not last long.
Trump, who began his second term as president on Jan. 20, defended the tariffs that he announced on Saturday. Canada and Mexico said they were working together to face the 25% U.S. duties on imports, which promise to jolt the integrated economies of three North American countries that have had free-trade agreements for decades.
Canada and Mexico immediately vowed retaliatory measures after Trump's announcement on Saturday. China said it would challenge Trump's 10% tariffs at the World Trade Organization and take unspecified countermeasures.
Canada will take legal action under the relevant international bodies to challenge the 25% tariffs imposed by the United States on most Canadian goods, a senior government official said on Sunday, calling the tariffs illegal and unjustified. The comments come a day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a wide array of retaliatory levies of 25% on U.S. goods in response the tariffs announced on Saturday by President Donald Trump.
"We will obviously pursue the legal recourse that we believe we have through the agreements that we share with the United States," the official said, briefing reporters in Ottawa on condition of anonymity. Trump applied a 25% import tariff on all Canadian goods, except energy products such as oil and gas and electricity, which will carry a duty of 10% while entering the United States. The 25% tariff will be in effect starting on Tuesday, while the energy tariff will be implemented starting on Feb. 18.
Dollar strength will force a possible drop in Metals, Bitcoin.
Dow Futures are down 600-700 points moving into Monday trading.
EM or emerging markets are dumping due to the dollar strength. Euro is mostly at parady - this is bad!
Oil will move higher due to the tariffs so gas pump prices should rise also.
Global Pandemic possible breakout around Feb. - Mar. 2025.
Turkish invasion looks likely in Mar. 2025.
Based on my Paradigm 2030 chart we could see approx. 2 billion people and 1/2 of the earth affected by all this in the next year.
