Stargate: Surveillance State?

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025 – President Trump’s first full day in office – he surprised the country with the announcement of “Stargate” – a $500 billion project to construct massive data centers in the U.S., many of which will be in Texas. The rationale given was using AI to discover early-stage cancer markers in the blood. Such massive data centers in the wrong hands, however, could be used as a tool of mass surveillance and totalitarian control. We need to press the pause button and get some questions answered before proceeding down this path toward a world-wide digital gulag.
