Cutting back on processed food and trying to save money by making foods from scratch as much as possible.

Shoofly Pie. 375ºF/190ºC.
Par bake a pie shell 10 minutes in the oven at 375ºF/190ºF

Crumb topping: 1 cup (113g) whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup (97g) brown sugar, 3/4 teaspoon (2g) cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon (2g) salt, and 1/4 cup (51g) soft butter
**Mix well and turn into a crumble like consistency. Set this bowl off to the side

Wet filling: 1/2 cup (97g) brown sugar, 1 Tablespoon (7g) whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon (4g) baking soda, 1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract, 1/2 cup (159g) molasses (NOT Blackstrap), 1 beaten egg
**Mix well
1 cup (236g) boiling water
**SLOWLY add, while mixing into the molasses mixture

**1 cup of crumb mixture on the bottom of the par baked pie shell, spread out evenly
**Top with molasses mixture, pour in slowly so the crumbs do not move.
**Sprinkle the rest of the crumb mixture on top of the pie
**Place pie on a baking sheet-you will regret it if you don't and this sticky filling spills in the oven.
**Bake for 45 minutes. Cool completely before serving.
