Drafted 4th overall in 1978 by the New York Knicks, he dominated the court, leading the league in both assists and steals while earning four All-Star appearances. But his meteoric rise was cut short when off-court struggles led to a lifetime ban from the NBA in 1986.

Instead of letting his story end in tragedy, Michael found redemption overseas, winning championships across Europe before returning to mentor young athletes. Now, he’s sharing his journey in his new book, Banned.
