In a surprise development, U.S. envoy Richard Grenell announced on Friday (January 31) that he was returning to the U.S. with six American detainees following a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas. The released individuals, dressed in Venezuelan prison uniforms, were seen with Grenell aboard a flight. President Trump celebrated the move, calling it a "hostage rescue." Despite this diplomatic interaction, the U.S. maintains its stance of not recognizing Maduro as Venezuela’s legitimate leader.
