SBC Family,

Since Christ said He would go to the Father so the Father could send the Spirit in His name, then it introduces doctrinal development to the Spirit. Thus, tomorrow we will look further at the Trinity and especially the Spirit. There has been a lot of controversy over the Spirit in Church history and in our modern day, so it behooves us to re-visit some of this controversy so we see the political consequences, especially in Eastern Europe and Russia. Always remember that the Spirit is the behind the scenes player and He exalts Christ. Christ is the focal point, and if there is no strong Christology then a vacuum will be created and the tyranny of the political state will enter in to oppress its citizens.

Prayer! Keep prayer in mind. Prayer is our theme for the year. Some of you are hurting. When I am hurting I turn to these verses.

Ps 142:3-7 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; there is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O Lord; I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low…bring my soul out of the prison, So that I may give thanks to your name…”

Grace to you,
Jeremy
