From Charlie’s discussion (Educate Don’t Mandate Tour)
• Turns off his phone Friday night to Saturday night
• “The world cannot reach me, and I get nothing from the world”
• “It will bless you infinitely”
• God rested after Creation
• There’s no negative in taking the Sabbath
From AMC’s commentary
• Value of taking the Sabbath, shut out the world, and literally rest from the world
• There is no negative effect from Sabbath-keeping
• Sunset Friday to sunset Saturday
• It’s not a “Jewish Sabbath, “it’s a biblical Sabbath (Isaiah 58:14 – the Sabbath of the Lord)
• Disagrees about being “not bound” to keep the Sabbath … obedience is required to each one of us. All commandments of God should be obeyed. You can’t pick and choose when it comes to God’s law. “If you love me, keep my commandments.” You’re not bound because you obey. We are FREE by obedience.
• It’s not optional to choose your own day. The Sabbath is meant to be kept every seventh day of the week. You can only keep the Lord’s day. You can’t pick and choose.
• Spend quality time with the Lord. Spending time with the One you love is never wrong.
• When you spend time in the Word, in prayer, in praise, in worship, in meditation, in nature, in ministry—how could it not be a blessing?
• Genesis 2, Ezekiel 20, Exodus 21, Exodus 16
• Claim the promises of God. Some of the greatest miracles He did was on the Sabbath.
• Certain prayers that are a burden on your heart are good to bring to the Lord on the Sabbath.
• Stay away from the world as much as possible. Try to do what you do to strengthen your faith in the Lord.
• Keep away from the emails, the burdens of life, work, phone calls—it’s all about God, family, ministry, and a personal walk with the Lord.
