Soldiers and airmen from the United States Virgin Islands National Guard arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on January 15 to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration. JTF-DC will consist of roughly 8,000 National Guard service men from over 40 states and territories to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration, carrying on a legacy begun in 1789 when their predecessors escorted George Washington to the first inauguration. These National Guard duty members give crucial support to civic authorities by managing crowds, controlling traffic, responding to CBRN incidents, responding to civil disturbances, and performing maintenance operations. Their experience and seamless work with interagency partners contribute to a secure and peaceful handover of power during this historic occasion. (Video by Tech. Sgt.
