America's Plan to Destroy the Cartel Terrorists

On January 20th 2025 The United States government officially designated Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations which now opens up the door for the possibility of missions exactly like this to occur. What historical examples can we examine to better understand how this situation might unfold? What would military action against the cartels look like at a tactical level?
