The energy within the heliosphere primarily comes from the Sun, which continuously emits solar wind at speeds of 300–800 km/s, carrying a total power output of roughly 10⁵² ergs per second (equivalent to about 1,000 times the global energy consumption per second).

As the solar wind expands outward, it interacts with the interstellar medium, creating boundary layers like the termination shock and heliopause, where kinetic energy dissipates, forming turbulent and high-energy regions.

This dynamic system regulates cosmic ray entry and influences space weather throughout the solar system.
