On Thursday night, the Santa Monica Observer published a story about a Transgendered individual going by the name of Jo Ellis, and named her as the unnamed third soldier who was aboard the Black hawk helicopter that crashed Wednesday night.

The article written by Greene was published Thursday, January 29, at 11:34 p.m. By Friday morning, the story written by Stan Greene of the Santa Monica Observer had taken off. Jo Ellis had made an appearance on a Podcast hosted by her former boss, Michael Smerconish, of CNN. On Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:32 a.m., another story written by Stan Greene of the Santa Monica Observer was published to the Santa Monica Observer's site, stating that Jo Ellis was not the third soldier aboard the Blackhawk that crashed into the Potomac on Wednesday night. What Stan failed to say in his second article was that it was he who published the original story leading to all the confusion on Friday morning.

The Santa Monica Observer in their failed attempt at a retraction, linked people over to Andy Ngo's Twitter account, for all to see that Jo Ellis was alive and well and was not the third soldier. Everyone makes mistakes Stan, not owning up to your mistakes lacks journalistic integrity.

The third soldier is still unnamed at this time. The other two soldiers who are named are: Andrew Eaves and Ryan O'Hara, may they rest in peace, and our sincerest, heartfelt-sympathies are extended to their families. Hopefully, the name of the third soldier is released soon by a more credible outlet than the Santa Monica Observer.
