LOCKED Trailer (2025) Bill Skarsgård, Anthony Hopkins
© 2025 - The Avenue

"I just want to introduce you to a little taste of hell." The Avenue has revealed the first official trailer for an intriguing new stuck-in-one-place horror thriller film titled Locked, from filmmaker David Yarovesky - best known for directing the supervillain horror Brightburn a few years ago. The story follows a thief who breaks into a luxury SUV, only to realize that he has slipped into a sophisticated and deadly trap. With no means of escape, Eddie must fight to survive in a ride where escape is an illusion, survival is a nightmare, and justice shifts into high gear. From producer Sam Raimi comes Locked, starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins (as the SUV owner who taunts him) in the ultimate auto horror-thriller. The cast also includes Ashley Cartwright and Navid Charkhi. It's fun to see something entirely original out there, but this is such a kooky concept. Looks like it gets even crazier than you think! Check out this wild trailer below.

Here's the first official trailer for David Yarovesky's horror film Locked, direct from YouTube:

Locked Movie

From producer Sam Raimi comes a relentless horror-thriller where luxury becomes deadly. When Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) breaks into a luxury SUV, he steps into a deadly trap set by William (Anthony Hopkins), a self-proclaimed vigilante delivering his own brand of twisted justice. With no means of escape, Eddie must fight to survive in a ride where escape is an illusion, survival is a nightmare, and justice shifts into high gear. Locked is directed by filmmaker David Yarovesky, director of the films The Hive, Brightburn, and Nightbooks previously, plus a few other projects & videos games. The screenplay is written by Michael Arlen Ross. Produced by Zainab Azizi, Petr Jákl, Ara Keshishian, Sean Patrick O'Reilly, Sam Raimi. The Avenue will debut Yarovesky's Locked film in select US theaters starting March 21st, 2025 this spring. Intrigued?
The trailer for Locked, an upcoming thriller starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins, has been released. The film, directed by David Yarovesky and produced by Sam Raimi, is an English-language remake of the 2019 Argentinian action film 4x4. Locked will follow Eddie, a thief who becomes boxed in a trap after performing what he thought was a routine robbery. In February 2023, Hit Man star Glen Powell was initially announced to play the role of Eddie before he was replaced by Skarsgård. Locked is slated for a March 21 release.

Paramount has released the official trailer for Locked, starting off pretty tame with Eddie (Skarsgård), a seemingly low-level thief who still needs to pinch pennies, looking for unlocked cars. He finds one, but it locks him in. The car’s owner, William (Hopkins), spells out the doom of Eddie’s situation by revealing the cutting-edge, almost devilish, features of the high-tech car, which has bulletproof walls, a cellular jammer, a seemingly remote-controlled air conditioner and heater, and self-driving capabilities. Check out the trailer below:

What The Trailer For Locked Reveals
Buckle In For A Thrilling Ride That's Meant To Teach You A Lesson
Bill Skarsgard looking sweaty and contemplative in Locked
What started as a routine day for Skarsgård’s Eddie quickly turns into one he’s not likely to forget, as he finds himself in a car that was meticulously designed to teach and punish. William, who is seemingly righteous and devilish all at once, is, for the most part, only revealed through Hopkins’ unmistakable voice. His agenda is initially clear, as he quotes one of the Ten Commandments, but, as the trailer crescendoes, he is seen putting Eddie through a series of traumatizing events that involve the death of seemingly innocent people, hinting at a more nefarious plan and moral compass.

Our Take On The Trailer For Locked
Anthony Hopkins And His Otherworldly Car Are The Highlights
an extreme close up of Anthony Hopkins in Locked
While I’m in a somewhat starstruck and advocating mood when it comes to Skarsgård after watching his terrifying turn as Count Orlok in Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, the most intriguing parts of Locked’s trailer are Hopkins and his car. In Locked, it looks like the Oscar-winning actor has found himself another villainous role to sink his teeth into. In roles like Hannibal Lecter in The Silence and the Lambs and Dr. Robert Ford in Westworld, Hopkins has proven time and time again that he’s capable of playing layered, complex villains and characters who are equally wise, charming, and disturbing.

It’d also be amusing to see Skarsgård doing a sort of 180 in playing a scream queen-type of role this time around, receiving the punches instead of doling them out himself.

In Locked, Hopkins is once again lending his talents to give depth to yet another terrifying character. The odd balance between righteousness and wickedness in William and the car he’s concocted for Eddie’s reckoning should provide for a thrilling theatrical experience. It’d also be amusing to see Skarsgård doing a sort of 180 in playing a scream queen-type of role this time around, receiving the punches instead of doling them out himself. I would like to see what kind of themes are actually at play once more revealing footage comes out, but, so far, in terms of sheer entertainment, Locked looks like a visceral joyride.
As a food and wine pairing for the upcoming horror-thriller Locked, may we suggest liver with fava beans and a nice chianti?

In the film's wild trailer, debuting above exclusively with Entertainment Weekly, Anthony Hopkins channels the sadistic purr of his former character, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, for his role as William, a self-proclaimed vigilante who, like Lecter, is a stickler for good manners. In William's case, he seems to be particularly serious about property theft.

From producer Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell) and director David Yarovesky (Brightburn), Locked centers on down-on-his-luck thief Eddie, played by another actor famous for his villainous roles, Bill Skarsgård. When Eddie breaks into a luxury SUV parked in an empty lot, he gets trapped inside by its owner, William, who tricked out the car to deliver "his own brand of twisted justice" against the young criminal.

Unable to escape his four-wheeled cage, Eddie fights to survive as William dishes out some unusual punishment, including (but clearly not limited to!) tasing him through the car seat, freezing him with the air conditioning, and making him watch helplessly as the remote controlled vehicle runs over innocent people.

"Working with Bill and Anthony was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," the director tells EW. "They are two of the greatest living actors, each having brought to life some of the most iconic villains of all time. Now, they're going head-to-head in a battle of wits — a fight to the death! Together, they are electric! I'm deeply grateful to both of them, as well as to Sam Raimi, for being such incredible creative partners and for trusting me to steer the ship."

Directed by David Yarovesky (Nightbooks) and produced by Sam Raimi (the Evil Dead franchise), Locked stars Skarsgård as Eddie, a down-on-his-luck thief who breaks into a swanky SUV. But this is no luxury vehicle: It belongs to William (Hopkins), a vigilante who has tricked out his car in order to catch thieves and enact his own form of justice.

As William tells Eddie over the phone, he's put a lot of time and money into crafting the perfect torture vehicle. The walls and windows are bulletproof and there's no cell service, so there's no way out. Plus, the seats are able to tase Eddie, and William can lower or raise the temperature however he sees fit.

Yet William doesn't want to kill Eddie outright. Instead, as he remotely takes the car for a spin — potentially killing several pedestrians along the way — his goal is simply to introduce Eddie to "a little taste of hell."

Locked hits theaters March 21.
Nosferatu and IT star Bill Skarsgård finds himself trapped by a sinister Anthony Hopkins in the new trailer for horror-thriller Locked that arrived this morning.

Locked will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.

In the intense horror thriller, “When Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) breaks into a luxury SUV, he steps into a deadly trap set by William (Anthony Hopkins), a self-proclaimed vigilante delivering his own brand of twisted justice. With no means of escape, Eddie must fight to survive in a ride where escape is an illusion, survival is a nightmare, and justice shifts into high gear.”

The film hails from director David Yarovesky (Brightburn), writer Michael Arlen Ross (Turistas), and producer Sam Raimi (the Evil Dead franchise).

“Working with Bill and Anthony was a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Yarovesky told EW about working on the film. “They are two of the greatest living actors, each having brought to life some of the most iconic villains of all time. I’m deeply grateful to both of them, as well as to Sam Raimi, for being such incredible creative partners and for trusting me to steer the ship.”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Hopkins, who won the Academy Award for his iconic turn as serial killer Hannibal Lecter in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs, play the menacing villain. The new trailer below highlights his menace as he terrorizes Skarsgård’s car thief.

Bill Istvan Günther Skarsgård (Swedish: [ˈbɪlː ˈskɑ̌ːʂɡoːɖ] ⓘ; born 9 August 1990) is a Swedish actor. He is known for portraying Pennywise in the horror films It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019). Other horror appearances were in the series Hemlock Grove (2013–2015) and Castle Rock (2018–2019) and the films Barbarian (2022) and Nosferatu (2024).

Skarsgård has also appeared in the comedy Simple Simon (2010), the drama Nine Days (2020), and the action films The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016), Atomic Blonde (2017), and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).

Early life
Skarsgård was born on 9 August 1990 in Vällingby, Stockholm, Sweden, the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård and doctor My Skarsgård.[1][2][3] He has seven siblings, including actors Alexander, Gustaf, and Valter.[4]

Career
Early work (2011–2016)
In 2011, Skarsgård was nominated for a Guldbagge Award for his leading role as Simon in Simple Simon.[5] At the age of 21, he won the European Film Academy's Shooting Stars Award in 2012.[6] Beginning in 2013, Skarsgård played the role of Roman Godfrey in the Netflix original Hemlock Grove.

In April 2014, Skarsgård featured on the cover of Hero – a bi-annual men's fashion and culture magazine, shot by Hedi Slimane. In the issue, he is interviewed by his father.[7] Skarsgård played Matthew in the science fiction thriller The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016), his first major American film.[8]

Breakthrough (2017–present)
He played horror villain Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 2017 film It and reprised the role in the 2019 sequel, directed by Andy Muschietti.[9] Speaking about what led him to casting Skarsgård, Muschietti said: "One second he can act all cute, and then the next, there's something ancestral and dark that just appears. His ability to transform is mind-blowing to me.”[10]

Skarsgård was a series regular on 2018's Castle Rock, as a young man with an unusual legal problem.[11] That same year, he portrayed Zeitgeist in Deadpool 2.[12] In 2020, he played Mateo in episode 4 of AMC's anthology series Soulmates. In 2021, he voiced the main antagonist Kro in Eternals.

In the 2022 Netflix miniseries Clark, Skarsgård portrayed Clark Olofsson, the notorious Swedish criminal whose involvement in the Norrmalmstorg robbery gave rise to the term Stockholm syndrome.[13]

Skarsgård played the lead villain role of Marquis de Gramont in John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). He was the titular character in Boy Kills World.

He led the reboot of The Crow directed by Rupert Sanders.[14] Skarsgaard said: "I had a great shoot, a lot of night shoots. … You're kind of preoccupied in a bleak state of mind for a while. I like to be consumed by it when I'm doing it. Actually, we were working out a lot, I found it really helpful. There's nothing like being tired and sweaty to get the demons out."[15] He has been cast as Count Orlok in the remake of Nosferatu.[16] Speaking on his experience portraying the titular role, Skarsgård said: "It was like conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me."[10]

He is also set to reprise his role as Pennywise/IT in the prequel TV series It: Welcome to Derry.[citation needed]

Personal life
Skarsgård is in a relationship with actress Alida Morberg.[17] In October 2018, the couple had their first child.[17][18] They had a second child in 2023.[19]

In February 2024, Skarsgård was arrested and fined for marijuana possession in Sweden.[20]
