Chatzu Minus Chat: Yakuza Kiwami 2 – Part 7

Another playthrough in the books. I immediately started Yakuza 3 after I finished. I plan on doing another run at some point. I’ll take my time the next go around and appreciate the side content more. My main goal with these first playthroughs is to enjoy the main story. Even when the plot gets hokey, the writers commit to it so passionately that I can’t help but just roll with it. It’s melodramatic and sometimes contrived, but it knows and even embraces that. Gotta give credit for fully committing. Having already played some of Yakuza 3, the weapons in this feel extremely overpowered. Then again, I’m playing on easy. What did I expect? I also noticed that the devs really got their money’s worth of that one licensed song. I now get why people seem to be upset about them just tossing out Kaoru in 3. It almost makes me wish they had just killed here off here. Then again, that would have hurt Ryuji’s story at the end. It’s quite a writing conundrum they got themselves into. Not even sure if bringing her back now would even help matters, or just feel like hollow fan-service. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll have more to say as the series goes on. Till next time.
