The Wilmot Land Grab = Transparency Secrecy, and NDAs

In March 2024, the Region of Waterloo began assembling 770 acres of prime farmland for a shovel ready mega industrial site, funded by the Ford Government, without securing an end user. This controversial land grab has sparked outrage as developers approached farmers with offers before the Region did, echoing the Greenbelt scandal now under RCMP investigation.

No public consultations, costings, reports, or studies have been conducted. Politicians and staff are bound by NDAs, and numerous Freedom of Information requests have been denied. Farmers are stressed and anxious, unable to plan or grow their operations, feeling disregarded by their Township and Regional, and Provincial Governments. This situation raises serious concerns about democracy and the treatment of farmers as if they were criminals.

In this first episode of a 3-part mini-documentary series meticulously crafted by Director of Photography/Editor Thomas Varey, viewers will hear directly from affected farmers, farmers questioning if they're next, an environmental expert, local advocates and provincial MPPs.

Time is running out! Like and Share this video and contact your local politicians and let them know you support family farmers as businesses, local food production, access to safe clean water and government transparency.
