REJECTED by FAA for Being TOO WHITE: 3,000 Top-Performing Air Traffic Controllers Applicants

Article says —Here’s Who They Hired Instead And It’s Not Just DEI!

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), once revered for its precision and high standards, has undergone a dramatic transformation that has many questioning the safety of America’s skies. Historically, the FAA was the epitome of meritocracy, selecting air traffic controllers (ATCs) through rigorous training and testing to ensure only the most competent managed our nation’s air traffic. However, this changed significantly during the Obama administration and has only intensified under President Biden, with a focus shifting towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) over traditional merit-based selection.

This shift has not gone unnoticed, as the consequences are now starkly evident. A focus on race-conscious hiring practices has led to a noticeable decline in the expertise level required for ATCs, contributing to an escalating safety crisis in aviation. The statistics are alarming: near-miss incidents have increased dramatically, with 2024 witnessing a record 1,100 runway near-miss incidents, many due to controller errors.

The Fall of Meritocracy in Air Traffic Control

For years, the FAA’s Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) program was the gold standard for producing top-tier ATC candidates. These candidates underwent extensive coursework and passed the Air Traffic Selection and Training (AT-SAT) exam, designed to assess their capability in high-stress, precision-demanding environments. However, in 2014, the landscape changed. The AT-SAT was replaced with a biographical questionnaire aimed at diversifying the demographic makeup of the workforce, sidelining merit in favor of quotas. This resulted in over 3,000 highly qualified CTI graduates being rejected because they were white, in favor of candidates who met specific racial and gender criteria.

DEI Policies and the Rise in Near-Misses

The impact of these policy changes has been catastrophic, with incidents like:

October 2024: A Delta Air Lines Airbus A350 collided with an Endeavor Air CRJ-900 at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, leading to significant damage and an NTSB investigation.
September 2024: An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 had to abort takeoff in Nashville to avoid a collision with a Southwest 737, which was mistakenly given clearance to cross the runway.
December 2024: A near-miss at LAX where a Delta jet almost struck a private aircraft due to a controller’s miscommunication.

These incidents highlight a troubling trend where less qualified individuals, expedited into critical roles, are making errors that could have dire consequences. The FAA’s approach has sparked outrage, culminating in legal action against what many see as discriminatory practices. A recent tweet from @EndWokeness highlighted this issue, stating that 3,000 top-performing applicants for air traffic controllers were rejected by the FAA for being white.

But the controversy doesn’t end there. In a move that has further fueled the debate, the FAA under Biden has shown interest in hiring pilots and air traffic controllers with impaired vision or severe intellectual disabilities, as revealed in another tweet from @EndWokeness. During President Trump’s recent press briefing he eviscerated the FAA for these policies, attributing the DC plane crash to the agency’s DEI focus and lowered standards.
