2025 Lyriq Universal Remote testing

Many Lyriq owners have shared frustration, issues, and theories of why the Universal Remote on the Lyriq randomly doesn't work and or has poor range. One forum member even stated that the Lyriq Universal Remote adds another layer of range anxiety to the Lyriq... They carry the factory garage door remote in the center council like a backup battery. Some Lyriq owners have gone back to the 80's and are clipping their garage remotes onto the visors, only to find the visor is molded into the ceiling, so the remotes prevent the visor from being folded down against the windshield. Some owners say the Lyriq Universal Remote randomly doesn't work. Some owners say they have no problems with the Lyriq's Universal Remote operation or range. In the first part of the video, a spectrum analyzer is used to see if the 2025 Lyriq Universal Remote is randomly not transmitting when the touchscreen is pressed or the knob/wheel is clicked. It doesn't seem to make a difference which control is used. It appears to randomly not transmit. Is it the infotainment user interface, Geo fencing, or the new CAN/LIN Universal Remote module in the Lyriq and Blazer EV? Is it the placement of the new module? Some transmissions have a brief 15-20dB higher noise floor that might be causing the garage receivers not to see the data in the signal.
In the second part of the video, a spectrum analyzer is placed 5' in front of three different GM vehicles. First, the power level of the actual remotes, held by the rearview mirror, using different frequencies(300MHz, 318MHz, 390MHz), are measured. Next the three different GM vehicles Universal Remote transmitters are programmed to each of the remotes and each vehicles transmit power is measured. The Lyriq's measured transmit power is much less than the other GM vehicles that work correctly each time the corresponding button is pressed. It would be interesting to test a Chevy Blazer EV, since GM shows the same Universal Remote module part # is used on the Lyriq & the Blazer EV. Hopefully the spectrum analyzer testing clarifies some of the myths, theories, and speculations Lyriq owners have been dealing with.
