The T-72B is an upgraded variant of the Soviet T-72 main battle tank, introduced in the mid-1980s to improve firepower, protection, and mobility. Equipped with a 125 mm 2A46M smoothbore gun, it can fire standard shells, guided missiles, and APFSDS rounds, making it effective against both armored and fortified targets. Its composite armor, enhanced with Kontakt-1 or Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor (ERA), provides increased protection against anti-tank weapons. Powered by a V-84 diesel engine producing 840 hp, the T-72B can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h on roads. With its improved fire control system, upgraded optics, and enhanced survivability, the T-72B remains a formidable and widely used tank in many armed forces worldwide.
