Justice Society of America

Black Adam marks the debut of the antihero in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) while also introducing the superhero team Justice Society of America (JSA). In the film, the JSA is a group dedicated to maintaining global stability without killing their enemies. Led by Carter Hall (Hawkman), the JSA confronts the threat posed by Black Adam's emergence in Kahndaq.

The JSA, the oldest superhero team in DC Comics, first appeared in All Star Comics #3 (1940) with members such as Doctor Fate, Hawkman, and Flash. However, their prominence waned by 1951, eventually being succeeded by the Justice League. In the DCEU, the JSA remains faithful to its comic origins, with Hawkman and Doctor Fate as founders, joined by younger members Cyclone and Atom Smasher.

Black Adam tells the story of Teth-Adam, a slave from Kahndaq who gains superpowers from Egyptian gods. The character first appeared in The Marvel Family #1 (1945), created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular character, who also serves as one of the producers.

Although the future of the Justice Society of America in the DCEU remains uncertain, the team represents an opportunity for DC to expand its superhero universe.
