1st Day 1st Test at Galle International Stadium, Galle Dt:- 29th January, 2025.
At stumps on day first Australia were 330 runs for the loss of 2 wickets only.
Australian captain Steven Smith won the toss and opted to bat first. The Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Travis Head batted aggressively and added 92 runs for the first wicket.
Travis Head was first to go after making brisk 57 runs from 40 balls by hitting 10 fours and 1 six.
Marnus Labuschagne made 20 runs and was second to go of the bowling of Vandersay caught by Dhananjaya de Silva.
Usman Khawaja is not out on 147 runs with Steven Smith not out on 104 runs. These two added unbeaten 197 runs for the third wicket.
Steven Smith completed his 10000 test runs in his career and scored 35th test hundred.
Due to rain the play was called off 9 overs earlier.
