Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a woman’s menstrual cycles and fertility. It is diagnosed after a woman has gone 12 months without a menstrual period. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can happen earlier or later. During this time, the ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone, the hormones that regulate menstruation and ovulation. This leads to the cessation of menstruation and may bring on a variety of symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and sleep disturbances.

Types of Menopause:

Natural Menopause:
This is the most common type of menopause and occurs gradually as a woman’s body naturally reduces hormone production. It typically happens between the ages of 45 and 55 and is marked by the end of the menstrual cycle, accompanied by symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings.

Premature Menopause:
This occurs when menopause begins before the age of 40, either naturally or due to medical treatments. Premature menopause can be caused by factors such as genetics, autoimmune diseases, or surgical removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy).

Early Menopause:
Early menopause occurs between the ages of 40 and 45, earlier than the typical age range. It may result from health conditions, treatments like chemotherapy or radiation, or genetic factors. Women experiencing early menopause may have similar symptoms to natural menopause, though it can happen suddenly.

Induced Menopause:
This type of menopause occurs as a result of medical interventions, such as surgery (removal of ovaries or uterus) or treatments like chemotherapy or radiation. Induced menopause often leads to sudden onset of menopause symptoms, as it causes an abrupt drop in hormone levels.

Symptoms of Menopause:

The symptoms of menopause vary from woman to woman but commonly include:

Hot flashes
Night sweats
Irregular periods
Mood swings
Fatigue
Vaginal dryness
Decreased libido
Difficulty sleeping
Weight gain
Bone density loss
