"BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN" TO BE RELEASED EXCLUSIVELY IN IMAX® ON FEBRUARY 7, 2025

TICKETS FOR THE EXCLUSIVE IMAX RELEASE® AND ONE-NIGHT EARLY ACCESS SCREENINGS ON FEBRUARY 5, 2025 ARE AVAILABLE NOW

NEW YORK (December 5, 2024) – Sony Pictures Classics announced that BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN will be released in nearly 200 cinemas on February 7, 2025. cinemas exclusively in IMAX cinemas. Prior to release, IMAX cinemas will host one-night-only early access screenings in eighteen markets on February 5, 2025. Tickets for both dates are on sale now from imax.com/ledzeppelin.

BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN explores the origins of this iconic group and their meteoric rise against all odds in just one year. Driven by awe-inspiring, psychedelic, never-before-seen footage, performances and music, Bernard MacMahon's cinematic odyssey explores the creative, musical and personal origin story of Led Zeppelin. Told in Led Zeppelin's own words, the film is the first officially sanctioned film about the group.

The hybrid documentary-concert film also reveals a huge amount of rare and unreleased Led Zeppelin performance footage. The result is a visceral musical experience that transports audiences to the concert halls of Led Zeppelin's earliest tours, accompanied by intimate, exclusive commentary from the famous private band.

Director Bernard MacMahon said: "The cinematic power of IMAX coupled with the authentic sound of the film creates an immersive and stirring viewing experience that makes audiences feel like they are in the venues with the band."

BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN is a film that almost didn't happen - the filmmakers faced epic challenges, including the fact that there was hardly any footage from the band's early days. MacMahon and McGourty embarked on a worldwide detective hunt for material to illustrate the band's story.

"We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic, combing attics and basements in search of rare and unreleased footage, photos and music recordings," said writer and producer Allison McGourty. "Then we transferred each medium using custom techniques so that these 55-year-old clips and music look and sound in IMAX like they came out of the lab yesterday."

BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN is directed by award-winning, Emmy® and BAFTA-nominated® Bernard MacMahon (AMERICAN EPIC) and written by MacMahon and BAFTA-nominated® producer Allison McGourty. The film is produced by McGourty and Paradise Pictures in association with Big Beach, along with executive producers Michael B Clark, Alex Turtletaub, Cynthia Heusing, David Kistenbroker, Duke Erikson, Simon Moran and Ged Doherty. Editing is by Dan Gitlin, sound supervision is by Nick Bergh, sound restoration is by Grammy Award winner® Peter Henderson, with archival research by Kate Griffiths and Rich Remsberg.

What is a running gag?
What does a running gag mean in film production?
A running gag is a word joke that is used over and over again and is always funny. Despite the repetition of this joke, it appears in a modified form each time. For example, in every "Star Wars" film production the sentence "I have a really bad feeling about this" is used at least once.
