Atomic 'Doomsday Clock' edges closer to midnight

Atomic scientists moved their "Doomsday Clock" closer to midnight than ever before on Tuesday (January 28), citing Russian nuclear threats amid its invasion of Ukraine, tensions in other hot spots, military applications of artificial intelligence, and climate change as factors underlying the risks of global catastrophe. "Every second of delay in reversing course increases the probability of global disaster," said Daniel Holz, the chair of the Science and Security Board at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
